While many of his colleagues are mired in the ongoing IPL spot-fixing quandary, cricketer Yuvraj Singh seems to be placing his bet on an up-and-coming high-rise in Worli.

After combating cancer, penning a book and launching a detection centre for the disease he overcame, the southpaw’s next venture seems to be in south Mumbai’s prized real estate.

According to real estate sources, the all-rounder has seen a property measuring 16,000 square feet in a high rise being erected in Worli. The total cost of the property he scouted is estimated to go above Rs 60 crore.u00a0The tower is being constructed by Omkar Realtors.

It is one of the three buildings that are coming up at the site in Gopal Nagar in Worli, near the city’s old passport office, and all have some 70 floors. A broker from Worli area said, “It’s a huge slum rehabilitation project and whenever we show the apartments to any of the potential buyer, we refer to the property as Omkar-Worli project, since Omkar Realtors is constructing the buildings.”

The price that’s being quoted by the builder, according to brokers, is nearly Rs 40,000 per sq ft. Sources revealed that the Singhs are planning to buy an entire floor in the high rise, and Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam is negotiating with the builder. Each floor is nearly 16,000 sq ft in area.

Gaurav Gupta, director of Omkar Realtors, refrained from elaborating on whether Yuvraj is buying the property. He said, “I cannot comment on whether Yuvraj is negotiating with us or not, but yes, there are a few cricketers who are in talks with us.” Gupta didn’t give any details on who the other cricketers are, although sources told MiD DAY that two other prominent fast bowlers are in talks over buying flats in the property. Repeated attempts to get in touch with Yuvraj Singh and his mother proved futile.u00a0
