This is the age of the internet. As William Gibson's haunting imagination of cyberspace comes to insipid life, we are blown into the new era of virtual networking, learning and earning.

Cyberspace and Datamining: Kanu Priya's Landscape of Opportunity

How does one do that, you ask?

The primary requisite, of course, is will and knowledge of the world of internet marketing.

With pop up ads filling up our screens, un-skippable ads preceding every video on YouTube, and advertisements tailored to our tastes and desires littering our social media newsfeed, it doesn't require a genius to tell us that digital marketing is the way of the future. With physical resources slowly depleting, our economy has begun mining the data we generate by simply existing in the digital space. So our identities are what form the basis of the economy, with the corporations profiting off of our preferences, desires and kinks.

Since the eighties, as the Cold War neared its end, the neo-liberal ideology took over the economy decisively. The currency system shifted from being based on the gold standard, and became a free flowing mythical structure that was determined and controlled by the relationship between nations and their currencies. No longer was it necessary for economies to have the weight of their own currency printed saved in resources. Instead the economy began depending on the goodwill of the share system, and became easily affected by the changing moods of the greater public opinion and financial movements.

If that sounds confusing and a little fake, that is because it is. However, that hasn't prevented it from ruling the economic structure for the last few decades, and despite continuous upheavels, still seems to be going strong and steady.

So the question now lies in finding out how we may profit from this entire confusion, instead of allowing the big bully corporations to earn off our identities. And the answer of course is the easily accessible digital space.

There are multiple ways this may be done. As someone with experience in IT, you can become a data analyst for any kind of company you want. Every company requires a data analyst, and in the present climate, it is one of the most sought after jobs, as the entire economy is dependent on the collating and sifting of personal data.

You may become a digital marketer, and work to use that data to target advertisements and properly according to the needs and desires of the consumers in question. That is, basically become the person who knows and shows you the ads you need to watch, helping others realize their retail therapy.

There is also the ever expanding and popular world of crypto currency, which works on determining the value of data mining. Investing in one of the many available crypto currencies means you invest your own identity into the currency system, and allow your digital footprint to work for you, and collect returns on investment. However, for obvious reasons, investing in crypto is a complicated process, fraught with risks, as after all it is a game of investment, which has its own share of pitfalls.

These are only a few of the ways to use the current trend of data mining to your own financial advantage, and earn money hand over fist through the online world. Kanu Priya is a young entrepreneur who has taken full advantage of this new landscape of investment, and become one of the youngest millionaire's in India. Her focus has been on affiliate marketing and online sales, and she encourages everyone to take the leap and start earning from the cyberspace every one of us has access to today.
