 Jay Sean

Sound check

With all eyes (or ears, should we say?) on Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department—which set Spotify history by garnering over 300 million streams in a single day—we’re certain all other singles have taken a backseat. But if you’re willing to take a break from binge-listening Tay Tay’s music, Brit singer Jay Sean’s song, Heartless, can offer a desi relief. Heartless sees Sean’s signature melodic style take centre-stage in an English act that’s punctuated with Ikki’s Punjabi verses. The song is being looked at as a window into what fans can expect in the Ride it hitmaker’s upcoming album. Sean, who entertained fans of English music with several collections, including his successful mixtape, Mistress, has been recently crafting music that could well be seen as a nod to his Indian roots. This collaboration comes after Sean joined hands with Guru Randhawa for Surma surma, and long-time collaborator Rishi Rich for Nakhre. Both the numbers had elements of Indian languages interspersed with Sean’s English renditions. Heartless makes for a seamless listen, and a fitting opening track to Sean’s album. It’s instantly reminiscent of Sean’s hit, You make my love go, and harks back to the melodic tunes that first brought him into the limelight. Today in music April 22,2007: Beyonce and Shakira bagged the top spot on the UK singles chart with Beautiful liar. The track won the Most Earth-Shattering Collaboration award at the MTV Video Music Awards

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Martin Scorsese

Leo to be Scorsese’s Sinatra

Martin Scorsese is reportedly planning to revive his previously stalled Frank Sinatra biopic with frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio as the legendary American actor-singer. This news comes about 14 years after the Oscar-winning director, 81, first tried to get a film about Sinatra’s life in 2009, with backing from Universal Studios and DiCaprio in the frame.  Scorsese and DiCaprio have been working together since 2002, with their last collaboration, Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) earning 10 nominations at the 96th Academy Awards.  Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra Interestingly, Jennifer Lawrence is also rumoured to be attached to the film, portraying Sinatra’s second wife, Ava Gardner. Both DiCaprio and Lawrence have previously worked together on Netflix’s 2021 sci-fi comedy Don’t Look Up.  An international publication reported that Scorsese plans to shoot two films back-to-back, the first about Jesus and the second about Sinatra. However, the iconic actor-singer’s daughter, Tina Sinatra, who controls her father’s estate, has not given yer nod to the  filmmaker. Nonetheless, that has not stopped the 81-year-old director from attaching huge names to the production.  This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Zack Snyder shares Leonardo DiCaprio's advice for 'Batman v Superman'

Director Zack Snyder appeared on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast to promote the second installment of his Rebel Moon films for Netflix. During the conversation, host Josh Horowitz inquired if it was true that the studio wanted Tom Hanks or Adam Driver to play the villain in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', as per The Hollywood Reporter. "I think I did talk to Adam on the phone, yeah," he said of the rumoured castings. "Leonardo DiCaprio, I talked to him about it." While Snyder ultimately went with Jesse Eisenberg as Lex, starring opposite Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman, he revealed the 'Titanic' star "had a lot of great ideas, actually, just in the meeting. "I think, in the end, he was like, 'Eh, I don't know.' But he was really smart about the material and really smart about the character," the director shared. "In a lot of ways, I think he was the one that mentioned to me this idea about Superman fighting the Justice League at some point." Snyder explored DiCaprio's idea that Superman could fight his allies in both his 2017 film Justice League, as well as 2021's Zack Snyder's 'Justice League', which was the filmmaker's extended version that came in at four hours and two minutes. 'Batman v Superman' wasn't the first time the Killers of the 'Flower Moon' star was in the conversation to play someone in a superhero film. David S. Goyer, who co-wrote Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, previously told Horowitz that DiCaprio was also in talks to play a part in those films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. BAFTA sets date for 2025 film awards

The British Film and Television Association has locked in its dates for next year's film awards ceremony. It will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The date means the BAFTA will come exactly two weeks before the 2025 Oscars, set for March 2. Once again, the British awards will be held in the midst of the Berlin Film Festival, which runs from February 13 to February 23, meaning that many British executives will be booking flights back from the German city on the first festival weekend. BAFTA has yet to finalise the location of the 2025 awards ceremony. This year's event took place three weeks before the Oscars at the Royal Festival Hall in London. By retaining its pre-Oscar date, the BAFTAs want to maintain their status as the most prominent international celebration and a reliable predictor of Academy Award winners. The 77th BAFTA Awards accurately predicted the Oppenheimer Oscar sweep, as well as snubs for Martin Scorsese's The Killers of the Flower Moon and Greta Gerwig's Barbie. Killers was left out of the winners' circle at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars, while Barbie only won one Oscar, for best original song, for "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell. Some 7,800 professional members of the British Film and Television Association vote on the BAFTAs over three rounds, first nominating films for the longlist, then for nominations and finally the winners. BAFTA will be announcing its full timeline and eligibility details for the 78th BAFTA Awards in the coming weeks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian

Fans decode Taylor Swift's 'ThanK, aIMee' - Is it a Kim diss track in disguise?

While the Swifties didn't receive 'Reputation (Taylor's Version),' Taylor Swift dropped a musical masterpiece this morning with her new album, 'The Tortured Poets Department.' Allegedly centred around her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for six years, the album features numerous heart-wrenching songs. One song in particular, "ThanK, aIMee," grabbed Swifties' attention, mainly because the capital letters spell out "KIM." Fans decode Taylor Swift's 'ThanK, aIMee' After dropping the first 16 songs of her album, Swift surprised everyone by announcing an expansion called The Tortured Poets Department with 15 more tracks. "ThanK, aIMee" is the 24th song, and fans think it's aimed at Kim. They noticed the lyrics are pretty harsh and seem to directly target the Skims founder. In one of the verses, the singer croons, "There's a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it / That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school," a song about a mean schoolgirl. Moreover, Taylor Swift alludes to North West's infamous tiktok where she was seen lipsyncing to one of Taylor's songs. In the newly released song, she said, "And one day, your kid comes home singin' A song that only us two is gonna know is about you." Taylor Swift on her feud with Kim Kardashian Previously, in an interview with Time Magazine, Taylor Swift touched on the infamous drama with Kanye West and his then wife Kim Kardashian, where she edited a phone call where it looked like Taylor Swift consented to Kanye West's use of her name in relation to a beyond inappropriate line. Speaking on this, she said, “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” she says. “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.” (Kardashian wrote, in a 2020 social media post, that the situation “forced me to defend him.”)

Zendaya on what advice she got from Timothee Chalamet

Actor and singer Zendaya shared what advice she got from 'Dune' co-star Timothee Chalamet before working with director Luca Guadagnino in 'Challengers', who was seen in 'Guadagnino's Call Me By Your Name' in 2017, as per The Hollywood Reporter. "He said wonderful things," Zendaya said at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Challengers'. "Luca is brilliant and I've wanted to work with Luca for a very long time and this just seemed like the absolute perfect thing. When we first met about the script he had such a keen, deep understanding of the characters from the beginning and a clearer idea of the kind of movie he wanted to create. And the script was brilliant, [writer] Justin Kuritzkes is so talented and I'm so happy for him. So it all made sense." As per The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya, also a producer on the film, stars as a former tennis prodigy now coaching her champion husband (played by Mike Faist), who is currently on a losing streak. To rebuild his confidence, she enters him in a Challenger tournament, where he faces off against his former best friend and her ex-boyfriend (Josh O'Connor). Ahead of the L.A. screening, Zendaya expressed her gratitude for those in the crowd and said, "I always think that nobody's going to be at these things and then I'm so surprised when people are actually here." She added, "We hope you enjoy it and just have fun. Dance if you want to, because it will make you want to do that. And again, don't judge the characters too hard." Guadagnino, who noted that the night marked his career's first major L.A. premiere, also mentioned the dancing aspect in his pre-screening presentation, since the film's score--by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross--is significant. "I wanted to put a song at the end of the credits and [Reznor and Ros] are very good because they don't say anything, and then at the right moment they say, 'What about a new song?' OK!" the filmmaker teased. "I was on a plane leaving Los Angeles for Italy and I was thinking about somebody and started to write these lyrics, little thing, and forwarded them to Trent and said, 'If you think this is a good lyric for the song, maybe it's in the movie. Anyway, the miracles of cinema and Hollywood,'" according to The Hollywood Reporter. 'Challengers' hits theatres on April 26. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
