"On his birthday, I extend greetings to the legendary Rajinikanth ji. May he remain in the best of health and have a long life. @superstarrajini," read the post on the Twitter handle @narendramodi. A similar message was later posted in Tamil.

Big B wish on his official Facebook page read, "And the 12th of December cometh the birthday of the Phenomena Rajnikanth...Happy birthday dear friend and remain in happiness and good health always".

The 'Paa' actor also took to his official blog to wish the star and he even shared a montage of his photographs with Rajinikanth, revered by many as Thalaiva.

Amitabh recently shared the dais with the legendary star at the opening ceremony of the 45th International Film Festival of India in Goa.

Most of Rajinikanth's films have not only had successful innings at the box office, but they have also left indelible impressions on his fans' mind. Be it his 'Mind it' dialogue or his iconic style of using his glares - the 'Thalaivaa' has managed to create trends galore throughout his career.
