A Glimmer of Hope with Glasgow Climate Change Conference

Mother earth is crying and screaming out loud for help as human beings continue to destroy the ecosystem. As the environment continues to collapse, the only ray of hope is the upcoming climate change conference in Glasgow, Scotland, where world leaders, environmentalists, scientists, and experts from around the world will share their vision on the rapidly evolving environmental crisis. The conference is taking place when the world is already battling with the Corona virus.

The environment is affecting almost every part of our lives. Still, despite all the challenges, we humans are negligent about the repercussions. The unprecedented fire in the Amazon rainforest exposed our preparedness. Due to the answers we are seeking, the 2021 Glasgow Climate Change Conference from the 31st of October to the 12th of November becomes very important, with many expecting a positive outcome.

Several months before the conference, United Nations' IPCC released its comprehensive analysis on the existing state of earth's climate. According to the report, it is clear that desperate steps are needed, and disastrous changes in the environment are only leading to cataclysmic events.

The environment's depleting condition has presented us with a more significant threat in the form of floods, rising temperatures, and forest fires. All the countries around the globe are battling extreme weather events. The moral responsibility of the rapidly changing environment is collectively on our shoulders. We need to change our approach and help nature in the healing process.

The report clearly states that the environment is drastically evolving and posing a threat to biodiversity. Our future generations can't be left to fend for themselves and deal with the impending disastrous environmental crisis. But, to make our planet a habitable place for the coming generation to live, only our small steps will make a much more profound impact and create a more significant difference.

Disasters happen every year in various parts of India, with floods, droughts, and landslides resulting in loss of life, along with damages to personal and public property. Still, we escape our liability by calling it a natural disaster. By the end of every year, stubble burning in northern India becomes one of the primary reasons for air pollution. On the other hand, vehicular pollution in places like Delhi and Bangalore is increasing continuously.

Nature is so vast and complex that the world will always fall short in its resources to understand it fully. We have to create an ecosystem where all organisms can thrive, flourish and do their job.

A few decades ago, the naturally available water was clean to drink. No one would have thought that human beings will have to take the onus to clean water one day by installing a water purifier, and one will have to pay a hefty cost to drink clean water. Similarly, now we have to take the initiative and make efforts for cleaner air by spending a substantial amount. All the species need a favorable environment to thrive, not our protection.

If we decide to be individually responsible towards Mother Nature, then a lot can happen collectively. The environment will be in for an extensive and positive overhaul. The IPCC figures are frightening, but not scary; these figures have hidden possibilities that can broaden new avenues. Climate change is our collective responsibility that demands equal participation from everyone. "11 Days for Earth's Healing" is an initiative of joint efforts by the ARDEA Foundation. It invites you all to participate for a real impact on climate globally.
