“People have shifted to smaller screens. The users are now more active on mobiles instead of laptops or desktops. And the user shifting to mobiles means businesses also need to focus their marketing strategies there,” says Parkash Mishra, Founder and CEO of Drive Digital and DigiHunts Academy.

According to research conducted by SensorTower, it is being speculated that mobile spending will reach $270 billion by 2025. This amount is more than double the amount spent in 2020, $111 billion. During the lockdown, the time spent on mobiles has increased threefold and it is not expected to go down any time soon.

Looking at this scenario, Prakash Mishra suggests that it has become all the more important to optimize your SEO, customer experience and website page contents for mobile users. Google also launched its latched update, nicknamed Mobilegeddon, aiming at mobile-friendly websites searches and penalizing the sites that are not mobile-friendly.

Why It Is Important To Optimize Mobile Content

If your website or content is not optimized for mobiles, you are losing out on a majority of your customers and potential clients. If your website is not appearing on the mobile search engine page results, it is a major cause of concern and you need to act immediately.

Prakash Mishra lists down the areas of emphasis, where mobile optimization should be done.

  1. Customer Experience:

If the viewer is not satisfied while browsing through your mobile website, or leaves the site within seconds, your site is of no use. In simple words, if the viewer finds it easy to interact around your site, it is likely that they will buy your product or services. The site owners should take a holistic approach to how the users are interacting with the website and accordingly optimize it to provide a better user experience.

  1. Try The Pillar Page Strategy:

Content is the base of every SEO technique, if your base is strong, you have a strong foundation for all your other SEO efforts. Make sure your content is unique, fresh and regularly updated as per the user demands. Determine the pages where you want to attract the most traffic and work on that content first.

  1. Use Long-tail Keyword Strategy:

The use of long-tail keywords has really shown good results for SEO. All users, mobile or any other type are mostly shifting to voice search rather than typing the search queries. Voice search usually involves full sentence which means focusing on long-tail keywords or what queries the customers are likely to ask while searching for your website is a good way to optimize your site for mobile users.

  1. Schema Markup:

Schema Markup is a type of microdata that is added to the website in the form of a short description of your site (generally known as a rich snippet). This description appears on the result pages. Using the right keywords in the schema markup helps in improving the SEO and visibility on SERPs.

  1. Mobile-friendly Website Design:

The basic need that does need to be pointed out is, your website should be responsive. Avoid using Flash, as it is not available on every device, instead use HTML. Also, try not to give pop-ups, as they do not respond well on mobiles. You also need to optimize your Titles and Meta Descriptions for mobiles.

“With the evolving trends, you need to be updated with what the users want. Therefore, optimizing your website and making it mobile-friendly has become all the more important as more and more users are drifting towards browsing on mobiles,” says Prakash Mishra.
