An eight-year-old boy, Dikshant Venkatesh Harijan, died after drowning in a swimming pool at a resort in Arnala on Tuesday, May 20. He was a resident of the BMC Colony at Santosh Nagar in Goregaon East.

According to the Arnala police, the incident happened on May 20 while Dikshant was swimming in the pool at Dreamland Resort in Virar. The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and initiated an investigation. A police officer said, “On Tuesday morning, after breakfast, the group entered the resort’s swimming pool along with Dikshant. He was playing in the children’s pool when water entered his nose and mouth, causing breathing difficulties.

He was immediately pulled out and taken to a private hospital, where he was declared dead.” Dikshant’s parents and others were present at the pool at the time of the incident. Another officer from Arnala police station said, “Dikshant’s father, Venkatesh Harijan, informed us about the incident. We have registered an ADR and begun our investigation.” Preliminary findings suggest that the cause of death was drowning.
