Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande on Thursday evening rushed to the house of Sumit Sabharwal, the pilot of Air India flight that crashed in Gujarat's Ahmedabad following the incident and met with his 88-year-old father in Powai area of suburban Mumbai.
According to MLA Dilip Lande, Sumit had spoken to his father before flying to London.
“I’ll call you once I reach London,” he had told him, Lande said.
Air India Ahmedabad plane crash took place on Thursday afternoon shortly after take off. The London-bound flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew, it crashed in a residential area minutes after taking off from Gujarat's Ahmedabad airport.
Sumit Sabharwal, a senior pilot had been working as a pilot since 1994.

Sumit’s 88-year-old father is now alone after the recent tragedy. His mother passed away two years ago.
Just three days before that, there was a conversation between father and son, in which Sumit had said, “I’m going to leave my job now and take care of you,” Lande said.
This promise now adds to the deep sorrow his family is feeling after the tragic incident.
Sumit’s sister and two nephews are on their way home to be with their grieving father.
The Sabharwal family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
