Kandivali firing case: Three shooters nabbed from Nagpur

The Kandivali police have arrested four robbers including two shooters from a group of 5 people, who allegedly fired shots at a trader in broad daylight on November 5 and looted nearly Rs. 25000 cash at Shankar Lane locality in Kandivali (West).


The prime accused in the case was arrested from J.J area in Mumbai and he has been identified as Naved Parmar (22). He has more than 12 cases against him including snatching and robbery in which 9 cases only belong to Sion Police station.


While being interrogated by the Kandivali Police, prime accused Naved revealed that, he has drew the plans to loot the businessman, and his four other associates are hiding in Nagpur, as per his instructions. Kandivali police laid the trap and nabbed them in Nagpur on Friday.


They were identified as Shohaib Shaukat Mansuri (22) (having more then 22 cases of robbery and snatching), Rahul Ramiya Pawar, 32 (having 2 cases, one is attempt to murder and other is robbery) and Sanjay Gangandeep (35). Of the three accused, Shohaib and Rahul were the shooters, who opened fire on traders. One accused is still absconding.

On the day of incident victim Dashaksh Shah and his colleague Deepak Vora were returning from an angadia firm, with Rs 25,000 in cash. Shah and Vora were on a scooter, when the five accused, who were motorcycle-borne called out to them.

When Shah stopped his scooter to hear what they were saying, the goon riding pillion tried to snatch the bag containing the money from Vora. Shah tried to resist their efforts by removing his helmet and hitting them with it. Just then, the robber who was riding the bike pulled out a pistol and fired at Shah’s hand.Another pillion rider then removed his pistol and fired at Shah’s leg. The two then managed to snatch the bag from Vora and fled from the scene.

Shah was then rushed to Shatabdi Hospital by passersby and the Kandivali police was informed about the incident. The Crime Branch is also conducting a parallel inquiry on the case.

"Parmar had conducted the recce before the incident and identified the victim and alerted the other group members", said Police Inspector Sudhir Dalwi of Kandivali police station. "We have identified the accused, who were involved in the robbery and several police teams were working and finally nabbed four accused including Parmar", he added.

Previously arrested accused Naved belongs to south Mumbai's J.J area, while Shohaib is from Nulbazaar, Rahul Pawar is from Nalasopara while Sanjay belongs to Nagpur. They are all good friends and met in Thane and Taloja Jail 3 years ago.

During the probe by Nagpur Police, Kandivali police come to know the three accused Shohaib, Rahul and Sanjay had also committed a Rs 11 lakh robbery in Nagpur due to which they are still in Nagpur Police custody and later will be handed over to Kandivali police for further investigation, Dalwi added.
