Thane district in Maharashtra has reported 10 new Covid-19 cases in past three days and the patients were on road to recovery, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said on Friday.
According to officials, all patients have only mild symptoms and are being treated at home.
Thane Municipal Corporation chief Saurabh Rao has urged all hospitals and health officials to remain alert and ready for any situation, an official statement said.
It said that as part of preparations, a special ward with 19 beds has been set up at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa. The ward is fully equipped to handle Covid-19 cases if needed. Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) testing facilities are also available at the hospital.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Chetna Niteel informed that all patients are stable, and there is no cause for concern at present. She also confirmed that all health centres have enough medicines and testing kits, the statement said.
It said that hospital Superintendent Dr Aniruddha Malgaonkar provided details of the newly prepared Covid-19 ward at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, and confirmed that testing and treatment facilities are ready in case of any increase in cases.
TMC chief Rao reminded citizens and health officials to stay alert and follow safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus, the statement said.
Mumbai reports 20 active Covid-19 cases
Amid a rise in Covid-19 cases globally, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had recently reported a total of 20 active Covid-19 cases within its jurisdiction.
The BMC on Tuesday said that while Covid-19 is currently spreading sporadically, continuous surveillance is being maintained across the city. Alongside Covid-19 monitoring, health authorities are also tracking cases of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).
Suspected cases are being tested for Covid-19, and those found positive are being treated in accordance with established protocols. Genomic sequencing is being conducted on all positive samples to monitor emerging variants and patterns. In some cases, co-infections with H3N2 and other respiratory viruses have been detected, officials said.
The BMC emphasised that Covid-appropriate behaviour remains crucial and that public health laboratories are fully equipped to handle testing and sequencing operations. The state health department is closely monitoring the situation.
Mortality data is being reviewed by the death audit committee to ensure accurate assessment of any COVID-related fatalities.
