In a shocking incident fuelled by old enmity, an attempt was made to kill a family by setting their house on fire in Dahisar’s Ganpat Patil Nagar.

The incident occurred around midnight on May 14 in Gali No 4.

According to police sources, the accused tried to set fire to both the house and a motorbike belonging to the complainant’s son by pouring petrol on them.

While the concrete structure of the house prevented a full-blown tragedy, except for damage to a plastic rain shield on the door, the bike was destroyed.

Fortunately, the family escaped in time, averting a major disaster.

The police have arrested one of the accused, Devraj Patil, while the main conspirator, Shadab Mokrani, and others are currently absconding.
