A state government official has revealed that the tally of bird deaths in Maharashtra reached 18,700 with 289 more birds dying in various parts of the state on 25th January. Out of the 289 birds, 260 were poultry birds while others are herons, parrots & crows. Meanwhile, one contractual labourer died, while another was injured after a Track Relaying Train (TRT) machine deployed for maintenance work failed in the early hours of 27th January between Ambernath and Badlapur.
