Four more were hurt after driver lost control over the vehicle in Yamuna Bazar

In a tragic incident of an accident, three persons lost their life while four other persons were injured after a carrier truck ran them over at a railway underpass in Yamuna Bazar near Kashmere Gate in north Delhi on Wednesday night.u00a0

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Suraj, Rajiv and Sunil while Abhishek, Amit, Shahib and Haider were injured.

"All the seven persons are part of a band that performs at weddings and they are residents of Meena Bazar. They had come to Yamuna Bazar for some work. After that they got late and instead of going home, decided to sleep on the pavement. They were sleeping there, when the truck ran them over," said a police officer.

The officer said the incident took place around 2 am. The front tires of the truck burst and it travelled some distance during which it ran over the victims. "The PCR call was made by a passer-by at around 2.10 am. All the injured persons were immediately rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital, where three of them were declared brought dead by the doctors, while the others were critically injured," added the police officer.

The officer informed that the truck driver was arrested from the spot by locals and has been identified as Fayaz. Police have arrested him for causing death due to rash and negligent driving. He said he was on his way to Tughlakabad, when he lost balance after the tyres burst. A case has been registered.
