Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the temperature in the Air India plane which crashed in Ahmedabad was so high due to burning fuel that there was no chance to save anyone, reported the PTI.
"There was 1.25 lakh litre of fuel inside the plane and it caught heat so it was impossible to save anyone," Amit Shah told reporters, according to the PTI.
The entire nation is in deep shock following the tragedy, he said.
Shah also expressed condolences to relatives of those killed in the accident.
The Air India Ahmedabad plane crash took place on Thursday afternoon shortly after take off.
"The number of those killed will be officially released by the authorities after DNA test and identification of the victims," the home minister said.
"One person survived the crash and I am coming here after meeting him," he said, as per the PTI.

"The process of collecting DNA samples from bodies of those killed in the plane crash is over. Forensic Science Laboratory and National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat will conduct DNA tests of the victims," Amit Shah said, the news agency reported.
The London-bound flight, carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed in a residential in Ahmedabad minutes after taking off from the city airport on Thursday afternoon.
Amit Shah arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening and visited the crash site to take stock of the ongoing relief and rescue operations.
The Union Home Minister was accompanied by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat government has also mobilised three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, comprising 90 personnel from Gandhinagar, to assist in rescue operations.
The London-bound Air India plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, crashed shortly after it took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport this afternoon, and rammed into a doctors' hostel in the Meghani Nagar area in Ahmedabad. As per DGCA, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 PM IST.
