Motorists from Wadala who are currently facing trouble taking the Eastern Freeway due to the pending work at the bridge that passes over Mahul creek have a reason to smile as both the north and south approach bridges near Bhakti Park will be thrown open for traffic by January.
The Eastern Freeway, which has considerably cut down Mumbaikars travel time, will soon have more entry and exit points.

It should be noted that motorists who wanted to get on the Eastern Freeway from Bhakti Park had trouble as they had to pass through a private road. In the past, a private developer had even allegedly said that the road, which the motorists are presently taking, was private and tried to stop motorists from using it.
“Now that the two approach bridges passing over the Mahul creek are set to be be ready by January the problem of the motorists will be solved,” said Metropolitan Commissioner UPS Madan.
MMRDA had to take permissions from Environment Department and MCZMA for the construction of the two bridges as they were passing from the area that was near to the creek and in Costal Regulatory Zone (CRZ). It is because of the same reason that there was a delay in the construction of these two small bridges and the planning authority was unable to open these bridges along with the Eastern Freeway.
“One of the creek bridges (South bound) that will help the commuters going from Panjarpol to Wadala will be thrown open by December and the other that will help the motorists coming from Wadala to Panjarpole (north bound) will be open by January. These two bridges will be very helpful as they will increase the number of vehicles that will use the freeway and this will not only save their time but also fuel,” an MMRDA official said.
