A female flight attendant allegedly committed suicide after jumping off the terrace of her residence in south Delhi's Hauz Khas. Police said that the woman, who was in her 40s, was working with a German airline. She had allegedly jumped off after sending a message to her husband that she would kill herself. Upon receiving the message, her husband rushed to the spot and took her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. He claimed that his wife committed suicide due to regular fights as there were "compatibility issues". However, her family alleged that she was harassed for dowry. The case is still underway
A woman, who got married in 2014, was found hanging in her house in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The woman's brother, who had filed a complaint with the police, alleged that she was being harassed for dowry by her husband and mother-in-law, who strangled her to death when she failed to comply with their demands. The case is ongoing.
A 25-year-old woman allegedly poisoned herself and her minor daughter in Kunda area of Uttar Pradesh over dowry demand. Police said that she allegedly consumed some poisonous substance with her daughter and both were rushed to a hospital, immediately. However, they died during treatment. An FIR was registered in this regard against the deceased's husband and five others for demanding dowry and harassing her, police said. The case is still underway
A 24-year-old woman was tortured for not bringing dowry Rs 20 lakh from her parents. For six months, her husband tortured her by branding hot objects, making her stand for hours inside a circle drawn on the floor with chalk and shut inside a bathroom without light and giving her stale food to eat. A Ghaziabad teacher was set on fire by her husband and in-laws for not receiving a dowry of Rs 25 lakh from her parents. The husband and in-laws poured diesel on her and tried to make it seem like an accidental case.
