A 50-year-old neighbour allegedly raped a five-year-old girl, who took shelter near his house as it was raining heavily. The incident occurred on September 22, 2018, near Bhiwandi when the victim had gone out of her house to make some purchases. Her mother, after hearing her daughter's ordeal, filed a complaint against the accused, who was subsequently arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) act, the police said.
A 25-year-old married woman was raped by an auto-rickshaw driver in a forest area in Ulhasnagar town on July 31, 2018. The 30-year-old accused autorickshaw driver, who knew the survivor, lured her out of her house on the pretext of giving her a treat in a nearby eatery. The woman in her complaint alleged that when they reached the restaurant, the accused began harassing her, so she refused to eat anything and insisted on returning home. The rickshaw driver offered her a lift on the pretext of dropping her home. But instead of taking her home, he drove the rickshaw to a forest area and sexually assaulted her.
A 25-year-old housewife was allegedly raped by two men repeatedly for 45 days in Nallasopara. The accused and his friend allegedly entered the survivor's house on June 17, 2018, when her husband and the children were away, and raped her. Between June 17 and August 30, the duo raped her and threatened her that they would kill her husband and children if she resisted them or told anyone. The woman finally confided in her husband who lodged an FIR with the police. Both have been booked under various sections of the IPC, including rape.
A 52-year-old man allegedly abducted a 11-year-old girl, his neighbour, from her house in Mumbra and sexually assaulted her on May 20, 2018. The accused entered the girl's house in the wee hours of the morning while she and her siblings were asleep. He took her to a nearby hill and then raped her. The accused has been arrested by the Mumbai Police and booked under IPC and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
On 3 May 2018, a 24-year-old man allegedly raped his neighbour after blackmailing her with a video clip he shot of her in the shower. The accused threatened her saying that he would make the clip public if she told anyone about it. The incident came to light when the woman’s relatives confronted her after seeing her talking to the accused. Following which, a report was filed with the Thane police station. The accused has been arrested by the police and the investigation is going on.
A 20-year-old woman on 9 April 2018 was raped by a rickshaw driver and two others in Diva. The victim in her compliant complaint alleged that she was dragged into a rickshaw when she was walking along a lonely stretch of road in Mumbra. Later, the victim was taken to BR Nagar in Diva and raped her. Now, all three accused are in police custody.
A 17-year-old girl was raped repeatedly by her father's colleague in Bhiwandi. The accused, who worked in a dyeing company in Bhiwandi, sexually assaulted her on 11 December 2017 and thereafter committed the same crime on several occasions on his company's premises. The parents of the girl, who is now two months pregnant, lodged a complaint with the police, and the accused has been arrested under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A 24-year-old repeatedly raped a 17-year-old girl between May and August 2015 after kidnapping her from Madhya Pradesh. The accused and two others abducted the girl from Guna and pushed her into flesh trade after raping her repeatedly for four months. The victim managed to escape from their clutches, got in touch with an NGO, and registered a complaint with the Thane police. Thereafter, a court in Thane sentenced the accused for 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000.
A 56-year-old allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl in Thane. The accused, stripped the minor girl, performed unnatural sex with her, and threatened her to not reveal the incident to anybody. However, the victim's mother filed a complaint after hearing her ordeal. The accused is now under judicial custody.
