The film is about a dysfunctional Punjabi family who invite their family and friends along on a cruise trip and all the drama that ensues. It features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar. Aamir Khan performs a voice-over as the narrator of the film.
Sultan: Anushka Sharma plays the role of wrestler Aarfa, opposite Salman Khan in Sultan. Anushka had undergone rigorous training for six weeks for her role as a grappler in the film. Anushka practiced for long periods regularly and tenaciously followed a fitness regimen to live the part of a wrestler to the best of her ability.
Bombay Velvet: Anushka Sharma plays Rosie Noronha, an aspiring Jazz singer, in 'Bombay Velvet'. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar. An adaptation of historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', 'Bombay Velvet' is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film proved to be a box office failure despite the hype surrounding it.
Phillauri: Anushka Sharma plays the role of a friendly ghost Shashi in Phillauri. In the film, Suraj Sharma meets the ghostly Anushka after he reluctantly marries a tree. The film also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Mehreen Pirzada.
Pari: Anushka Sharma forayed into the horror film genre with her third production Pari. A car accident leaves a man (Parambrata Chatterjee) indebted to a woman (Anushka Sharma) he finds chained up in a hut, who he thinks is a victim of childhood abuse. He takes her into his home and shelters her. But her story turned out one more horrific than he knew. When she starts falling for him, things start to unravel at the same time, and eventually it gets clear that supernatural forces are at work.
Zero: Anushka Sharma plays Aafia, a scientist with cerebral palsy, in this Aanand L. Rai directorial. She worked with two professional trainers to immerse herself into her role and put herself through a rigorous three-month preparation process. Anushka worked with an occupational therapist and audiologist who helped her understand what physical limitation her character in Zero would have and how her condition would impact her speech. Anushka romanced SRK once again in the film. The duo worked with each other in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan earlier.
