  • Amar Upadhyay (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi)
    The tale of a dead Mihir Virani coming back to life in ‘Kyunki’ is legendary in the history of Indian television. After his unbelievably enchanting character died in 2001, what followed was massive protests by ardent fans of Mihir. There were frantic phone calls made to the TV channel’s head office, letters were written in blood and, the makers had no option but to bring the ‘dead’ Mihir back to life

    Smita Bansal (Balika Vadhu): Bansal (right) recently returned to the show after a gap of six months. Bansal, who plays Anandi’s (Pratyusha Banerjee) mother-in-law, was away from the show as she was pregnant. Bansal gave birth to a baby girl in August
  • Rashami Desai (Uttaran)
    She played the role of Tapasya in the show, a highly selfish and manipulative woman. Desai left the show following her marriage to ‘Uttaran’ co-star Nandish Sandhu. Also, the show took a leap and Desai wasn’t convinced about playing an elderly role. She made a re-entry in Uttaran’s 1000th episode, but in a positive avatar
  • Dimple Jhangiani (Amrit Manthan)
    Jhangiani (right) played Nimrit in the popular show before doing the disappearing act. She recently returned to the serial, but in a different avatar, as Shivangi Singh. There’s a lot mysterious about the character of Shivangi, which is slowly unravelling
  • Smriti Irani
    After playing the role of television’s iconic bahu Tulsi Virani for nearly half a decade, Irani left the show citing creative differences with Ekta Kapoor. She returned after a gap of more than a year, claiming the issues between her and Ekta had been sorted out
  • Ronit Roy (Kasautii Zindagi Kay)
    His famous character of Mr. Rishabh Bajaj in the show was presumed to be dead after he was shown falling off a cliff. Roy, however, returned to the show just a few months later
  • Urvashi Dholakia (Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein)
    She portrayed the character of Savitri Devi aka Savvy, a high flying socialite match-maker in the show, and later made a comeback as Gavvy, her twin sister
  • In the meantime…
    Deven Bhojani’s lovable character of Gattu from ‘Baa Bahoo Aur Baby’ became illustrious on the small screen. Although the show went off air a couple of years back, Gattu has been brought back to life in a different TV show, ‘Alaxmi -- Hamari Super Bahu’
