  • Joshna Chinappa comes from a squash playing family. Her great granduncle  K.M. Cariappa (first commander-in-chief of Indian Army of Independent India), grandfather and her father were all squash players.

  • It was at age 7 that Joshna Chinappa took a liking for squash and began playing. A year later she was considereing pursuing either badminton or tennis.

However, Joshna maintains that they are friend and not rivals. Both her medals at CWG were won along with Dipika Pallikal.
