Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Veere Di Wedding with co-stars. Bebo and the cast on Monday were spotted on sets of TV show Naagin 3. Marriage and motherhood have had no bearing on Kareena Kapoor Khan's choice of films and roles, and never will. From slimming down to a size zero for her film to walking the ramp with a baby bump, the actress, who comes from Bollywood's famed Kapoor family, has always made a statement. All pictures/Yogen Shah
Kareena Kapoor Khan arrives in a casual avatar, green tee and denims, before donning her look for the show. Recently when Kareena was asked if she would rethink before signing a film or before appearing in a dance number being a mother now, Kareena told IANS here: "No really, I mean there is nothing wrong with song and dance. It is not derogatory. We come from a film family and our films are known for song and dance... So I will always do what I think is right, what works for my personality and my career. I might not be able to give time to a film like earlier; so I would want to work in a film that gets over within 50 days. So maybe not two to three films in a year, but I would rather do one film every year," added the mother of Taimur Ali Khan, her son from actor Saif Ali Khan
Kareena Kapoor Khan talking about Veere Di Wedding recently said, "I think I wanted to be a part of this film from the beginning because this is a very different film for me. I have always been a part of films where I shared screen space with heroes and I played the heroine. And here, I am narrating the story of a girl, along with three other girls who are her best buddies. Also, this is a story that captures various stages of love and marriage of girls. One wants to get married, one is getting divorced, one is commitment phobic... So it is a story of different shades of a relationship"
In Veere Di Wedding, Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Kalindi, and the story revolves around her marriage. The actress's recent comment: "I believe in equality. I wouldn't say I am a feminist", was widely trolled on social media. Does she think the term 'feminism' is misinterpreted? To which Kareena said to IANS, "I think so. I mean, on social media platforms many people misuse the word feminism. It is about equality and does not mean one is superior to another. It is about equal rights for everyone. Today a man is working, a woman is working on the same platform with the same level of dedication, skill set -- whether it is an entrepreneur, a journalist, a filmmaker, an actor, we all are doing everything with equality"
In a way, Veere Di Wedding, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, seems like an attempt to shine the spotlight on the image of modern Indian women. Kareena Kapoor Khan says the team is being asked a lot if they were trying to make a point on feminism and women empowerment. The actress added, "But the fact is we made a film on the story of four girls in a very commercial space. It is an entertaining film!"
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja arrives for Naagin 3 shoot to promote Veere Di Wedding. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja believes Veere Di Wedding is an entertaining take on gender equality. The 32-year-old actor said in an interview that the aim was not to make a film promoting women empowerment, but to present a normal story about four female friends
"'Veere Di Wedding' talks about gender equality in a very entertaining way. It is a female-driven film, but it is not about women empowerment or anything like that. It is celebrating four people, who are women. The idea is to reach a point where we are not discussing that there are four women in the film. We should be discussing that it is such an entertaining film. I wish we come to a point that it becomes normal to have a film with all female cast," Sonam Kapoor Ahuja said in the same interview
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja further added that, "There is nothing wrong with 'Veere...' being called a chick flick. But it is a label in which all the films about women are being put into. We don't have genres for a film with female leads. There are genres like action, comedy, drama for a film with male leads. But when there are females in the film it is immediately called a chick flick overlooking its real genre. "We are shying away from labels and saying we don't want to be put in a box. It is a film about four friends which anybody can watch. My sister said, 'I am not making a film for chicks'. It is a derogatory term for women anyways"
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja looked radiant in her lavender ensemble. Sonam got married to businessman Anand Ahuja on May 8 in a Punjabi traditional manner. Videos and photos from her wedding ceremonies and reception party went viral on social media with the who's who of the Bollywood in attendance
Sonam and Kareena's co-stars Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania were also present for the Naagin 3. The actresses pose for the photographers before the shoot. Shikha Talsania in an interview said that there is much more to her than her body type and hopes the industry stops looking at her in a unidimensional manner. The actor said she is aware of her appearance and is open to transformation if a role demands. "Look at Aamir Khan, the way he transforms for a film. I will put on weight or lose weight, I will do it for a film. I got much fitter for Veere Di Wedding. There is much more to me than just what I look like. Everybody should think like that. I just want to act, perform. We are at a wonderful time where more well-etched out parts are being written for women. I am happy being this person, this is me," Shikha told PTI in the interview
Swara Bhasker arriving for the Naagin 3 shoot. Swara may be playing an ultra-glamorous role in Veere Di Wedding, but the actor said she will not compromise on the content of the film even if she is choosing an out-and-out commercial project. The actor, who has been part of critically-acclaimed projects like Nil Battey Sannata and Anaarkali of Aarah, said her past choices have made her aware of the fact that she needs to pick performance-oriented characters
"There are people who have offered me films that were so-called glamorous but there was nothing much for me to do in them. So I didn't do that. I have a body of work that justifies that I should have something fairly substantial to do. I can't do something random just to be seen in a certain clothing... I will not be able to do that," Swara Bhasker told PTI in an interview. The actor said filmmakers tend to stereotype her because of her previous films, but producer Rhea Kapoor believed in her and offered the role of Sakshi to her
