The life preserver, one of only six in existence, has been kept in a safe by a Nova Scotia family since being found immediately after the 1912 disaster.

Sarah was rescued by the RMS Carpathia and eight days after the sinking of the "Titanic" she married Daniel in New York, wearing a hurriedly-purchased wedding gown, and accompanied by a bridesmaid and matron of honour who were also survivors.
