The students of Dosti Foundation School-Shil, Thane are a lucky lot. Why, you may ask. The answer is simple. There are activities galore, with each corner of the school having something different going on. A visit to the school , left us pleasantly surprised. Right from the entrance itself, we saw and heard the sights and sounds of happy students. On the playground there were girls playing Kho-Kho, some were on the Basket-ball area trying to shoot baskets and near the Happinest area we saw toddlers jumping on the trampoline. There was Book exhibition by Scholastic and students were browsing through the books.
There were students practising for the Hindi Divas celebrations in the hall and some students practising some really lovely moves for their Annual Concert. In another room, we saw students learning their dialogues under the guidance of their teacher. The main hall had the students doing Taekwondo in their smart uniforms. On another floor we found students and their parents in a discussion with the Counsellor so that right remedial support could be given the child. If this was not enough to have us in awe and respect for the school,we stumbled upon students doing Robotics and trying to build a robot under the vigilant eyes of their teacher. Another class had displayed their projects for the visiting parents.
What is so new about all this you may wonder…Yes,it is indeed a great effort because all the activities-Martial Arts, Speech&Drama, Music n Movement, Robotics& Coding,Basketball/Football to name a few, are all part of the school curriculum and there is no extra charge for the same.
A spokesperson for the school said,”DFS is a small attempt of the Trustees to provide quality education at a not very exorbitant rates. We believe every child is entitled to a school programme that he/she will remember all his life.”
