At Don Bosco International School (DBIS), well-being is at the heart of education. Guided by Don Bosco’s Preventive System of Education, the school’s commitment to holistic growth ensures that learners feel supported—academically, emotionally, and socially. Over the years, both IB evaluators and the Council of International Schools (CIS) have consistently noted how genuinely happy students feel being part of the DBIS community.
Inclusive Learning Support
DBIS has a robust Access and Inclusion policy, strengthened by a dedicated Learning Support Department with five special educators and two consultant occupational therapists. Using a proactive screening process and a Response to Intervention model, students with learning, sensory, or socio-emotional challenges are identified early and provided personalised support. This includes one-on-one sessions, in-class differentiation, and occupational therapy strategies integrated into daily routines.
A distinctive feature is the school’s Sports Sensorimotor Program, created in collaboration with teachers, coaches, and therapists. This innovative initiative develops foundational sensory-motor skills, boosting not just academic learning but also confidence and emotional regulation. Recognised internationally, it has been presented at global conferences, including MAHE (2024), SNDT (2025), and Lisbon, Portugal (2025), with DBIS standing out as the only school among expert participants.
Well-being Through Sports
Sports at DBIS go beyond physical activity—they are embedded as a cornerstone of mental and emotional well-being. The Inclusive Sports Program encourages resilience, teamwork, and joy through games that every child can enjoy. A structured Sports Value Education System further integrates life skills and values into the sporting experience, nurturing confident, empathetic, and balanced young individuals.
Emotional and Social Support Systems
The school’s Counselling Department, comprising four trained counsellors, extends support to students, parents, teachers, and staff alike. Services range from individual and group counselling to personal safety workshops and social-emotional learning sessions. Counsellors collaborate with academic teams and clubs to embed inclusion and mental health awareness into the wider school culture.
Student-led initiatives add another unique dimension. The Bosco Buddy Programme encourages peer support, while UMatter, a student-driven mental health platform, reduces stigma around counselling and fosters open dialogue. Outreach campaigns also spread awareness beyond classrooms, building empathy across the community.
Parents play an active role through the Parenting with Awareness series, while teachers and ancillary staff receive training in classroom management, mindfulness, CPR, First Aid, and stress management. This ensures that well-being becomes truly systemic and sustainable.
Our Commitment
At DBIS, well-being is not an add-on—it is a way of life. By embedding inclusive practices, fostering innovation, and empowering every member of the community, the school ensures that learners not only achieve academic excellence but also flourish socially and emotionally. DBIS continues to nurture happy, confident individuals who are prepared for life, not just examinations.
