A massive fire razed through a seven-storey residential building in Goregaon on Friday. At least seven people were killed while another 51 were injured in the mishap. The fire, which broke out in the wee hours of Friday morning, quickly spread through the multi-story building, trapping residents within. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured in the devastating Goregaon fire incident and declared that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim. Additionally, Rs. 50,000 will be offered to those injured in the mishap to aid in their recovery process.
06 October,2023 01:59 PM ISTIn an unfortunate incident, a portion of the building collapsed in the Rajawadi Colony of Ghatkopar (East). Some residents were stranded in the building. Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot trying to pull out the people trapped in the debris due to the Ghatkopar building collapse. No injuries have been reported as of now. In a similar incident, three persons were injured when the roof of a restaurant collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane city following heavy rains, civic officials said on Sunday.
