Kolkata: Taking a cue from overseas cricket venues, Sourav Ganguly, the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), is keen to rope in a title sponsor for the historic Eden Gardens.
The former India skipper recently had a powerpoint presentation with his CAB members and briefed them about getting a sponsor for India’s highest capacity cricket ground which is due to host the ICC World T20 final on April 3.

“Like Kia Oval in England, Ganguly is keen to have a chief sponsor for Eden Gardens. However, in our case, the sponsor’s name will appear after Eden Gardens,” a source said.
There will be several changes in the gallery area as well, the source informed.
Meanwhile, the CAB has introduced a new pitch cover with wheels below, similar to the ones used in England, Australia and South Africa. The covers are transparent for sunlight to reach the surface.
