Ishan Rajgarhia scored Jamnabai Narsee's solitary goal as the Juhu school beat Don Bosco (Matunga) 1-0 in the boys' U-14 final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Utpal Sanghvi knockout football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.
The match was keenly contested with both teams playing aggressively. After a goalless first half, the Juhu team started dominating proceedings. The relentless pressure they exerted culminated in Ishan scoring in the 43rd minute via a brilliant solo effort.

Ishan, who is the team’s main striker, was glad that he could score in the final. “We just wanted to win at any cost. It was an important final against Bosco. I am glad that my goal helped the team win,” Ishan told MiD DAY yesterday.
“After we finished runner’s-up in the U-14 league tournament, it feels nice to be the Utpal Sanghvi winners. The win wouldn’t have been possible without our coach Jeddy Almeida,” added the 13-year-old.
Meanwhile, Don Bosco’s coach MK Pillay was left lamenting his team’s performance. “The boys played well throughout the tournament. Today’s performance wasn’t up to the mark. They are capable of playing much better than they did today,” said Pillay.
Even though the Matunga side lost, their custodian Manav Baraskar was named the man of the tournament for his excellent goalkeeping performance throughout the tournament.u00a0
