Taking superstition beliefs to another level, residents of Madhya Pradesh's Betul laid their children on cow dung to observe Govardhan Puja on Friday. The locals believed that laying children on cow dung will bring them good health and protect them from diseases. According to doctors, this ritual is very harmful for their health. Govardhan Puja, or Annakut or Annakoot as it is also known, is a Hindu festival in which devotees prepare and offer a large variety of vegetarian food to the murtis of Paramatma(God) as a mark of gratitude.
