Sulakshana Monga's collection worn by none other than Malaika Arora, titled "The Cultural Cascade" was inspired by the vivid colours found on the ghats and streets of the holy city Varanasi with a global free-spirit appeal added to it.
Malaika Arora was seen walking the ramp in a yellow-green lehenga with a trail which drew inspiration from the sunset view from the ghats of Varanasi, with a sleeveless blouse and tulle dupatta. There was a lot of zardozi work used to weave calligraphy and various forms of art onto the lehenga. She kept her look natural with a messy bun and accessorised with a statement neckpiece and matching earrings.
Sharing her experience about walking the ramp, Malaika Arora said: "This is the first time I'm walking the ramp for Sulakshana but I have been following her work for quite a while. It's a real pleasure and I'm glad to be here tonight. It's a really beautiful collection that you have done."
Kriti Sanon wore a specially-conceptualised muted beige-coloured raw silk lehenga, inspired by the fresco and architecture of the Renaissance period, with a one-shoulder puffed sleeve blouse and tulle dupatta.
With the use of 30-40 different colours of Resham threads, the lehenga was intricately embroidered and embellished with shimmer, sequins, sparkle and glass pipes. Kriti Sanon glammed her look with shiny make-up and a chunky pearl and Kundan choker.
"It was very very nostalgic for me to walk for India Couture Week as I have walked as a model for the fashion week. While I was coming down the escalator, I realised that I have come down the same escalator as a model many many times," Kriti Sanon told IANS.
Kriti Sanon also recalled working for the designer duo in the past but as a model. "I remember I worked with Shyamal and Bhumika very long back, but only as a model. It's nostalgic to walk down the same ramp with the same people. I have loved their collection since then."
Malaika Arora and Kriti Sanon turned showstoppers at Indian Couture Week hosted in Delhi. The duo walked the ramp in ethnic wear and made heads turn with their panache. See pictures
