Remember Bhumika Chawla? Here's what the Tere Naam star is up to these days

Bhumika Chawla is an Indian actress who is best known for the Hindi film Tere Naam even tough she primarily works in Telugu cinema. As she turns 46 today, we take a look at what she is up to currently

Bhumika made her acting debut with the Telugu film Yuvakudu in the year 2000 at the age of 22. In the early 2000s, she became one of the leading female stars of Telugu cinema

Her second release, Kushi (2001), in which she starred opposite Pawan Kalyan was a box office success, winning her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress following which she acted in several films in Telugu, including Okkadu (2003) opposite Mahesh Babu and Simhadri (2003)

In 2001, she also made her Tamil film debut with Badri opposite actor Vijay, which was followed by her second Tamil film Roja Kootam (2002)

Soon after she made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with the film Tere Naam opposite Salman Khan. The film was one of the year's highest grossers and one of the most popular roles of the actress

Subsequently, she starred in a number of Hindi films including Run (2004), Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa (2004), Silsiilay (2005) and Dil Jo Bhi Kahey... (2005). She returned to Telugu, acting in the films Naa Autograph (2004) and Jai Chiranjeeva (2005)

In 2008, she debuted in the Punjabi film industry with Yaariyan, opposite Gurdas Maan, following which she debuted in Malayalam as well, starring in Bhramaram alongside Mohanlal

While her appearances in Hindi films was limited she created impact with every role. In 2016, she played the role of Sushant Singh Rajput's older sister in MS Dhoni- The Untold Story

While many believed that she stepped away from the movies that is not the case. Barring the year 2020, Bhumika has had a release every year including cameo appearances. 

In Hindi,she was last seen in the film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023 where she was reunited with Salman Khan. She played the role of Vankatesh Daggubati's character's wife (sister-in-law to Pooja Hegde's character)

In 2024, Bhumika's film Naam was finally released. The film was shot in 2004 and also starred Ajay Devgn

In 2024, she starred in the comedy-drama Brother, directed by M. Rajesh. The film was released in theaters on October 31, 2024, and later premiered on the ZEE5 OTT platform on November 29, 2024

Bhumika was last seen on screen in the Tamil language horror drama titled School. The film that was released in theatres in May 2025 also starred Yogi Babu and KS Ravikumar in the lead. The film had music by Ilaiyaarajaa
