Fang Shilong, born Chan Kong-sang on April 7, 1954, and popularly known as Jackie Chan and Sing Lung, is a Hong Kong martial artist, actor, and filmmaker. He is widely celebrated for his unique blend of slapstick comedy, acrobatic fighting style, impeccable comic timing, and groundbreaking, self-performed stunts that have redefined action cinema worldwide.

His parents left him behind in Hong Kong when Chan was just seven years old: They fled a Communist regime and settled in Australia, working for the American Embassy. His father, Fang Daolang, was involved in illicit criminal activities and may have been a Nationalist spy; his mother had once been arrested for smuggling opium and had connections to the Shanghai underworld.

He briefly attended Dickson College in Canberra and worked as a construction worker. The name Jackie was given to him by coworkers on a construction site in Canberra, who couldn't pronounce his real name - Chan Kong-shan.

In 2009, he was named an anti-drug ambassador by the Chinese government, actively taking part in anti-drug campaigns and supporting President Xi Jinping's declaration that illegal drugs should be eradicated, and their users punished severely.

Jackie Chan has a policy of not playing the antagonist. This has led him to decline movies like Lethal Weapon 4, The Demolition Man, and The One.

Most people don’t know that Jackie Chan is an accomplished singer. He’s an trained opera vocalist and a prominent pop star in China, having sung on a number of his own albums, 20, in fact, since 1984. He recorded the official countdown song for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

He’s a prolific entrepreneur, owning a clothing line, chain of sushi restaurants, production companies, movie theaters. He has an estimated net worth of approximately 400 million to 557 million.

In 1981, Chan met Taiwanese actress Joan Lin. In December 1982, they married in Los Angeles; their son, Jaycee Chan, was born the day after. Chan had an extramarital affair with Elaine Ng Yi-Lei, who gave birth to their daughter, Etta Ng Chok Lam, on 18 January 1999.

Chan holds the Guinness World Record for "Most Stunts by a Living Actor", which emphasizes that "no insurance company will underwrite Chan's productions in which he performs all his own stunts".

Jackie Chan looked up to Bruce Lee and loved his style and his dedication to martial arts and even worked as his stuntmen.

Jackie Chan had already been hurt at least 70 times while working as a stuntman and actor when he reached the age of 50. Chan was badly injured while filming "Armour of God" in the 1980s. He still has a hole in his skull on account of that particular injury. 

Jackie Chan has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was awarded an honorary Oscar at the Academy Awards in 2016.
