The world received the shocking news of the passing away of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The couple was reportedly found dead at their Los Angeles home at around 3:30 pm on Sunday, December 14. As the LAPD continues to investigate the matter, their son, Nick Reiner, has allegedly emerged as the prime suspect of the gruesome murders. Nevertheless, it is yet to be confirmed bythe officials. Reiner was born into a Jewish family in the Bronx, New York City, on March 6, 1947. His parents were Estelle, a renowned actress and singer, and Carl Reiner, a well-known author, comedian, director and actor.
Reiner identified as having no religious affiliation and as atheistic on January 13, 2012. He later said that while he rejected organised religion, he was sympathetic to the ideas of Buddhism.
Reiner shot to national prominence with the role of Mike 'Meathead' Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family (1971–1979).
Rob won two Emmy awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor – Comedy Series for his show All In The Family. The first in 1974, followed by a second in 1978.
Reiner got married to actress and director Penny Marshall in 1971. He even adopted Marshall's daughter, actress Tracy Reiner, from her previous marriage to Michael Henry. However, the couple parted ways in 1981.
Reiner made his directorial debut with the heavy metal mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap in 1984, which earned him much acclaim and marked the beginning of his journey as a renowned filmmaker.
He also received a lot of acclaim for directing the coming of age drama Stand by Me, which earned him several nominations including the Academy Award and Golden Globe.
Reiner was also the co-founder of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which initiated the court to challenge against California Proposition 8 that banned same-sex marriage in the state.
His romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally... (1989) also earned him a lot of acclaim as a director. Interestingly, it was during the filming of this movie that Rob met his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
Rob and Michele have three children together, sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy.
Rob Reiner also received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 1999, which further cemented his legendary status in the actiong and directing domains.
