Mahadik was one of the 242 people on board the ill-fated London-bound flight that crashed on June 12 at 1.39 pm, shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport. Only one passenger survived the tragedy, which is said to be the worst in a decade

The bodies of the crash victims are being handed over to their families after DNA identification

Her elder sister's DNA samples were collected to identify her body

Mahadik is survived by her husband, Amol Tatkare, who is an Air India pilot, and a son and daughter

The senior Air India cabin crew member was described as a brave and open-minded woman by her relative and NCP leader Sunil Tatkare

"She always kept the family together. Her presence brought strength and warmth to those around her,” said Tatkare. Mahadik was the daughter-in-law of Tatkare's younger sister

Apart from her 11, other crew members also died in the tragedy
