At the launch ceremony held in Colaba, Eknath Shinde said that the move would help Mumbai transition towards clean air and green energy-based transport

The 12-metre-long buses will be operated under the “wet lease” model, helping reduce carbon emissions and support the city’s clean energy goals, officials said

Speaking about the environmental benefits, Shinde said that the introduction of electric buses will help reduce air pollution

He announced that more green public transport projects are in the pipeline and that the new ‘Mumbai One’ app will offer passengers features like live bus tracking, integrated ticketing, and facilities for differently-abled commuters

Shinde further remarked that public transport is not always profit-oriented, but ensuring safety and convenience for citizens remains the government’s priority

He also pointed out that BEST services had declined under the previous government but were revived after the Mahayuti government took charge
