This is the first occasion in over 20 years that cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray were addressing the public together

The Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS had earlier announced that the two parties will hold a joint rally on Sunday

Huge crowds were seen attending the event and to listen to the Thackeray cousins address ahead of the BMC polls scheduled for January 15

Extensive arrangements were made by the Mumbai Police which, in a traffic notification on Saturday, said that large crowds were expected to attend the Shiv Sena-MNS joint rally

The rally was part of the Shiv Sena, MNS and NCP (SP) alliance campaign for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Election 2026

At the rally, Uddhav alleged that the BJP's Hindutva and nationalism were fake

The two leaders along with their sons Amit Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray, and senior party leaders addressed a huge rally on Sunday evening

Speaking at a joint election rally named ‘Shivshakti’ ahead of the BMC polls, Uddhav Thackeray said that the coming together of the Thackeray cousins was driven by concern for the state and its capital
