The humidity levels remained relatively high, adding to the discomfort during peak afternoon hours

Rainfall activity in the city saw a sharp dip over the past 24 hours

Between 8 am on October 5 and 8 am on Monday, Mumbai recorded just 0.82 mm of rainfall. The eastern suburbs received 2.92 mm while the western suburbs recorded a mere 0.36 mm of rain, indicating a tapering off of monsoon showers

Meanwhile, despite the reduced rainfall in the city, the lakes and reservoirs that supply drinking water to Mumbai have continued to benefit from earlier spells of heavy rain in their catchment areas

As per the latest data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on October 6, the seven lakes that cater to the city’s water needs are now nearly full

The BMC reported that the collective water stock in these reservoirs currently stands at 14,35,985 million litres, which amounts to 99.21 per cent of their total capacity

With monsoon officially retreating, Mumbaikars can expect warmer days ahead
