The illumination highlighted the architectural grandeur of the Victorian Gothic structure, drawing attention from both locals and tourists

Formerly called Victoria Terminus, CSMT was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004

Designed by British architect FW Stevens, this busy terminus has been recognised as a prime symbol of Mumbai’s identity

World Heritage Day, observed annually on April 18, aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural and historical monuments

The theme of the World Heritage Day 2025 is ‘Heritage under Threat from Disasters and Conflicts: Preparedness and Learning from 60 Years of ICOMOS Actions’. The day was started in 1982 by ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites). The following year, UNESCO officially adopted it

India has 43 sites on the World Heritage List and 62 more on UNESCO’s Tentative List
