The protesters criticised a 2017 government resolution allowing schools to decide on students admissions and called for enforcement of 25 percent reservation for disadvantaged groups in non-minority private schools
The protesters alleged that several schools were violating the RTE provisions
The protesters demanded to 'end discrimination' against single mothers and highlighted for recognition of documents issued solely by the mother for school admissions
The protesters also demanded to included acceptance of one valid certificate of any family member should be enough
The demands also include setting up help desks in advance to guide and support parents in the students admission process
