According to the officials, the showers were accompanied by thunder and lightning in some parts of the city and its suburbs

Several areas in the city reported moderate to heavy rainfall during the evening hours

Earlier in the evening, thunderstorms developed over areas near Mumbai on Friday evening, with weather officials predicting that parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai were likely to experience rain later in the day

The IMD had earlier in the day predicted a partly cloudy sky with chances of thunderstorms, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds across and adjoining areas on Friday

A yellow alert was issued for Mumbai and its adjoining areas including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra
