The Holika Dahan rituals will take place in Mumbai on Monday, marking the victory of good over evil

Ahead of the festivities, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) urged citizens to use dry wood for burning the bonfire, and celebrate the festival responsibly. It is illegal to cut tree branches without BMC’s prior permission. Dry firewood that is available in the market can be procured by citizens for the Holika bonfire

Markets across the city witnessed heavy crowds during the weekend and on Monday amid the Holi festivities, with locals shopping for colours, pichkaris, and water guns

In recent years, there has been a great demand for eco-friendly colours

Holi promotes unity, forgiveness, and social harmony by breaking down barriers of caste, class, and status—everyone gets equally covered in colors—and it is now celebrated globally by diverse communities.
