In Bandra, huge crowds gathered at Carter Road to welcome New Year 2026

On New Year's eve, Aksa Beach in Mumbai appeared deserted, with no visitors or revellers present on Wednesday night. Only police personnel and Quick Response Team (QRT) officials were seen at the beach, maintaining security and keeping a close watch on the area

Mumbaikars marked the arrival of the New Year with friends and families visiting public places

Groups of children were seen enjoying the night at Marine Drive in south Mumbai

Officials said that preventive measures and strict monitoring were in place at prominent places in city where large gatherings are usual  on New Year's eve

Mumbai Police deployed over 17,000 personnel across the city to prevent any untoward incidents during celebrations, officials said
