The initiative aims to make postal deliveries faster, easier and more environment-friendly, an official statement said

The launch event was held at the Mumbai General Post Office (GPO)

Officials said the introduction of e-bikes will reduce delivery time and physical strain on postal staff

To mark the occasion, India Post released a Special Postal Cover celebrating the rollout of the 200 e-bikes for postal staff

Another Special Postal Cover was released to commemorate the historic Battle of Longewala fought during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The cover honours the bravery of the 23 Punjab Regiment and the Indian Air Force’s 122 Squadron, who successfully stopped a major Pakistani offensive
