The electric vehicle (EV) giant has opened its first showroom in India at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), marking a major milestone in its entry into the Indian market. PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE

"It’s a proud moment for Maharashtra as Tesla launches its servicing and future manufacturing centre in Mumbai. The state is set to play a key role in the company's long-term plans, with full-scale manufacturing expected in the future," said CM Devendra Fadnavis after the inauguration

Tesla has also introduced advanced charging facilities, offering a 15-minute fast charge that enables a range of up to 600 km, a move that highlights both efficiency and environmental consciousness

The much-anticipated Model Y was officially launched at the Tesla showroom in BKC, marking another milestone in Tesla’s India journey

Last Friday, Tesla’s India-focused X (formerly Twitter) handle posted a teaser saying “Coming soon,” along with a graphic hinting that the company’s India presence would kick off in July 2025

In a significant move earlier this year, Tesla began its hiring process in India, indicating the company's preparations for entering the domestic market were gaining pace
