Eknath Shinde on Friday conducted an inspection of the ongoing drain cleaning works in Mumbai and visited several areas in the city to check the progress of the works. Top BMC officials were also present at the sites during the deputy CM's visit

During an inspection visit to multiple locations including Usha Nagar in Bhandup, Nehru Nagar Nalla in Wadala, and near T Junction in Dharavi, Eknath Shinde warned that strict action will be taken against officials who delay or neglect the crucial work

He also ordered that all silt removed from drains must be disposed of at dumping grounds within 48 hours

Eknath Shinde said, "Although the rains have started earlier this year, we are confident that all drain cleaning will be completed on time. Currently, 85 per cent of the major drains and 65 per cent of the minor drains have been cleaned. We still have 15 days to finish the rest"

For the first time, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and robots are being used in Mumbai’s drain cleaning operations. Robots are clearing waste from under railway culverts, while AI is helping monitor and manage the cleaning process
