The opposition parties allege that many names are missing or wrongly listed, and are demanding a corrected voter list before local polls are conducted

The Supreme Court has set January 31, 2026, as the deadline to complete the polls for the Mumbai civic body and 28 other municipal corporations and local bodies in Maharashtra

Speaking at the press conference, MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar said that the protest will be held to "save democracy"

Raut said that opposition parties, which have been fighting against the ECI over the alleged "vote theft" allegations under the leadership of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, have also begun in Mumbai

"Today, we are presenting our stance on behalf of all parties... Almost all members of the MNS are present here today, which is a matter of happiness. The press conference was called urgently to address the issue of the Election Commission scam, which we have been fighting in Delhi under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, and which is now starting in Maharashtra as well," he added

According to the opposition leaders, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Raj and Uddhav Thackeray will address another press conference on the issue in the next few days

Earlier in the day, MNS chief Raj Thackeray had challenged the Election Commission, saying it should not proceed with elections unless the errors in the electoral lists are corrected

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a delegation of opposition parties met the State Election Commission (SEC) and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)
