Maratha quota leader Manoj Jarange’s arrival in Mumbai on Friday sparked massive chaos as thousands of supporters gathered at Azad Maidan. The protest led to heavy traffic congestion near CSMT, across south Mumbai and other parts of Mumbai.

Maratha quota agitation leader Manoj Jarange also reached Mumbai on Friday at Azad Maidan. 

In view of both the ongoing Ganesh festival and the protest, the Central Railway has also deployed 240 more RPF personnel across various Mumbai stations. 

The roads near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai witnessed massive traffic congestion on Friday after thousands of Maratha quota protesters gathered in the area.

Thousands of members of the Maratha community spilt onto the roads leading to Azad Maidan, where activist Manoj Jarange is scheduled to launch his quota agitation on Friday.

Officials have said that efforts are underway to remove the protesters from the road and regulate traffic movement.

Around 9.45 am, Jarange entered Azad Maidan amid police security and was greeted by thousands of supporters sporting saffron caps, scarves and saffron flags. Several supporters jostled to click pictures of Jarange and record videos of the moment.

Thousands of supporters in CSMT gathered in support of activist Manoj Jarange, who is sitting on a hunger strike at Azad Maidan.
