Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted mainly clear skies over Mumbai and its suburbs
The weather department stated that the temperatures on April 9 were expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature may settle near 24 degrees Celsius
Apart from Mumbai, parts of Maharashtra were witnessing largely hot and dry weather conditions
According to Regional Met Centre (RMC) Mumbai, the weather was likely to remain dry in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar until April 9
Many visitors at Gateway of India were seen taking precautions against the afternoon heat
