While suburban areas received light to moderate rain through the night, the intensity has picked up considerably in central zones since early morning

Residents in low-lying areas have been urged to remain indoors, with local trains and road traffic moving slowly but still operational

Despite the red alert, many schools remained open in the morning session due to a lack of official communication from the municipal authorities

However, some institutions in rain-affected areas like Wadala and Sion have allowed students to leave early, citing worsening weather conditions and transport challenges

School bus operators have raised concerns over delays due to traffic jams and minor flooding
