Thick smoke was seen rising from the debris of the demolished slum area

The cause of the fire is being probed 

Garib Nagar is a large slum settlement located next to Bandra Railway Station (East) on Western Railway land

Last month, Western Railway carried out a major demolition drive against illegal encroachments in Garib Nagar to clear land for Bandra Terminus expansion and other railway infrastructure projects

Around 500+ illegal structures were demolished over several days, freeing up approximately 5,300 sq m of land.
