Residents and commuters say repeated complaints have gone unaddressed

Debris, dried leaves and overgrown vegetation—especially on the Matunga East side—have further narrowed the walkway, making it slippery during the monsoon

The bridge, a key connector between Matunga East and West during the Z bridge construction, is split into two sections, with the narrower road-crossing extension in worse condition

Railway officials said the bridge would be inspected, while BMC ward authorities confirmed a maintenance team would assess the structure

The east staircase is broken, the railings are overrun by weeds, and the west landing and steps also need attention
